What the light and the current actually do

Two technologies. Two different depths.

Skin is not one layer. Firmness is not made in the one you can see.

The light

Red light at 630 nanometres passes through the surface and reaches the dermis. There it is absorbed by the mitochondria, the part of the cell that produces its energy. With more energy available the fibroblasts in that layer do more of the work they are built for. They produce collagen and elastin, the two proteins that give skin its firmness and its spring.

Oestrogen kept that production steady for thirty years. When it falls the production falls with it. The light asks the cell for it directly, without waiting for a hormone that is no longer coming.

Six further wavelengths, from 405 to 700 nanometres, work in the layers above on tone, clarity and the look of fine lines.

The current

The microcurrent is a different mechanism. The body runs on its own faint electrical signals. They tell a muscle to hold its position and a cell to repair itself. They weaken with age.

Microcurrent delivers a current in that same natural range, far below the threshold at which you would feel it, through the tissue and into the layer of muscle beneath the cheek and along the jaw. The muscle responds to it the way it responds to its own signals. It holds.

That layer decides the shape of the lower face. It is also the one layer a cream has never reached, and the one a light-only mask cannot reach either.
